Not Worth the Wait

Even since I saw the Seinfeld episode "The Dinner Party," I've wanted to try a babka.

Unfortunately, the bakeries around here tend to be run by Italians or Germans; the Jewish and/or Eastern European babka isn't part of their tradition.

Finally, I found a cinnamon babka at Wegmans!  And having done so, I ask...isn't this just cinnamon bread?  I feel like I could've paid half as much for ordinary Pepperidge Farm cinnamon swirl bread.

Am I missing something?  Yes, I know, a babka is technically a cake, not a bread.  But I don't know what the difference is.  All I know is that it costs more than twice as much.

  1. BEST babka EVER can be found in Minneapolis - worth the airfare! The chocolate one is divine.
